4-MASTED STEEL BARQUE MODEL

A fantastic model of the 4-masted steel Barque, Jordanhill, built in Port Glasgow in 1892 for J.R.Dickenson and Co. Captain: D.Marshall. In 1896 sold to the Law and Co.Glasgow..then full history available up to 1936 when it was broken up during the Spanish Civil War. In original case. £475

UNUSUAL GEORGIAN FIRESCREEN TABLE.

This small mahogany table would have been used at the fireside, which would have been the warmest and best lit place in a drawing room in  georgian times.

The sliding velvet covered back would have been raised to protect a lady’s face from the heat of the flames. A side drawer held the threads and needles for tapestry work. Alternatively with the back lowered,,the leather covered top (leather possibly later) can be tilted for reading or drawing as there is a built in ratchet, and a removeable narrow ledge to hold the book or paper. The sliding back can be lifted out completely if required and the table used for a lamp. (candleabra in early years).  A very interesting and versatile table in good condition.  17″ wide x 14″ deep x 30″ high. price £395.

IGNATIUS NICOLI

Four engravings by a well known Italian artist Ignatius Nicoli 1921 –  1989.  He was famous for frescos, and although he

executed some impressive landscapes , practised the technique of engraving, etching and drypoint in particular. priced at £180 each. newly framed and mounted.

A CHILD’S SAMPLER

A sampler by Mary Ann Afford in 1815 with a squirrel and an address to her parents. It is in the original black ribbed frame and glass.  1ft 2 ” wide by 1 ft 6 and a half inches high. £340.
